The wagyu beef and the classic broth was actually addictive. We ordered the seafood combo too which was a nice addition. They have many other types of combo and broth too, very hearty and great for a gloomy day too.

I love Nabe! Perfect meal for a cold day in SF. The spicy miso broth is so flavorful, and I love their high quality meat which is juicy and not fatty. We each ordered our own set (the waygu beef) which was the right serving size for 1. I particularly enjoyed the congee at the end that the waiter makes for you with the leftover soup broth and rice! The quality of the meat is much better than ayce places nearby.

What an absolute gem in the inner sunset! Nabe is a Japanese style hot pot place - which means that the broths here tend to be waaaaayyyy less spicy than anything you would see at a chinese hot pot place. We got the spicy miso broth for the shabu shabu combo and even that was like, the equivalent of a light brush on the cheek in terms of spice, but the flavor was sooo good. We also got the sukiyaki and it came already in half of the pot - and it was delish. You do I think, have to eat it a little more quickly when the veg is already in the pot (or turn down the heat) so your food doesn't get boiled to death. Why you should eat here though: after you finish all your meat and veg, you get the option to add rice to your leftover soup and they come mix up some porridge for you that is so creamy (thanks to the egg they mix in), so make sure you leave space. I don't think a ton of places do that, so it makes Nabe kind of special. While the food here is not AYCE, I thought the base combo gave you a decent amount of food and you have the option to order add ons. The meat was more generous than I expected. Like if you've ever been to mumu hot pot it's similar if not more in portion. We got the duck add on and I expected like, maybe 5 extra pieces but no! The whole platter worth of duck! If you like duck - theirs was soooooo freaking good, probably my favorite. We also got the A5 miyazaki wagyu add on and damn, was that TENDER. The inside of the restaurant was nice - though things definitely got steamy and warm from all the pots going. Service was pretty good too - I really appreciate that they let my friend and I sit and talk for awhile (the restaurant was not super busy on the Thursday evening we went). And the guy who was our server was super friendly. I can't wait to go back and get the duck nabe lol.

TLDR: Friendly staff, fair price, end with congee! Spontaneous decision for some hot pot in the area. Pre-fix menus had a good amount of food per person. At the end, they turn your broth into Congee (SO GOOD, must get). The duck was good!

I nearly missed the entrance due to the glass doors and walls that were fogging up inside from the hotpot. On a weekend evening, our group of four was seated immediately, and they had a modern QR code where we could order. We ordered two Nabemono sets: the Ishikari Nabe and Shabu Shabu. We also ordered chicken karaage. Both broths were delicious, but my favorite was the Ishikari Nabe set for its aesthetic display of salmon and veggies and buttery broth. The chicken karaage was quite crunchy and darker in color than expected. At the end, we also enjoyed the unique rice porridge that they made using our leftover broth, rice, an egg, onion, and seaweed flakes on top. I would love to introduce my friends to come here for hot pot on a cold day in SF!

You know the drill, when the season gets colder you break out the hot pot and get warm and toasty. My friends and I were in the area after attending a free concert at Golden Gate Park and wanted something warm to heat us up. Nabe was one of the first options after Yelping "hot pot" so my friend made a reservation for same day and we were seated promptly on arrival. Parking can be hit or miss especially off Irving St. so just a heads up there. The menu is relatively simple - you choose the base you want and it'll come with a standard set of items. I opted for their sukiyaki broth with beef and that came with some veggies, mushrooms, and noodles. The thing about Nabe is that it's not AYCE so you're paying for a set meal and you can opt for a bowl of rice, as well. I was worried there wouldn't be enough food to make us full, but between the gyoza and takoyaki appetizer, the set meal was enough for each of us to get to full without feeling the gross "I overate" feeling that you'd get at AYCE places. At the end of the meal, they also give you the option of turning one of your leftover broths into a porridge which seems like a fun idea, but only if you're okay eating your friend's leftover (whichever broth you choose to use). Overall, it's a bit pricey compared to some AYCE hot pot places, however, it was a good experience with friends and I did appreciate their attentive service.

This review is for the takeout experience. We ordered Meal Pack A on the Uber Eats menu, which comes with two sets of meat and soup, along with garlic soy edamame, kurobota pork sausage, and two servings of butter mochi cake. The packaging for all of the items was fantastic. Everything was labeled clearly and the butter mochi cake even had handwritten detailed instructions on how to reheat the cake. This was more than enough food for 2 people and too much for us to finish. We ordered the sukiyaki with beef and the shabu shabu with beef and spicy miso. The meat was great quality and really tender, and there was a huge assortment of veggies. It also came with noodles for both the sets. One thing to note is that the meats and veggies were all raw, and we put everything in small pots to heat up and eat once we got home. Not the most convenient for those who are trying to get something to grab and go, but no issue for us. I hope to come here again to dine in - the inside of the restaurant looked pretty intimate and the waiters were really nice.

cozy & comforting & the perfect meal on a cold night! my partner and i ordered the shabu shabu nabemono set with wagyu beef, assorted veggies, & miso broth + an extra order of the wagyu beef to share. this was more than enough for the 2 of us because (surprise!) there's also complimentary porridge that's made at the end of the meal with the leftover broth. although the food was delicious, service was pretty slow. the table next to us actually had to flag down our server for us to order because they seemed to have forgotten we were there.
